On-location audio and video recording

Our recording and production work uses efficient, high quality methods to provide you with cost effective results and fast turn-around times. Standard audio recording for both live concerts and recording sessions is done at your location “direct-to-stereo” using professional equipment and microphones. This method is very efficient and avoids the extra time and costs associated with multi-track recording and mixdown.

For more demanding situations, we also offer 24-track high definition hard disk recording capability. While more expensive than standard 2-track methods, multi-track recording expands the range of possibilities and allows greater flexibility in post-production.

Video recording normally comprises one or two cameras in addition to our regular audio recording setup. We record digital video direct to hard disk for efficient transfer into the non-linear editing system. We often work in conjunction with school video or cable TV crews to keep costs as low as possible. Additional cameras can be brought in as needed for more complex shoots. With our extensive background in audio, we have the right experience to capture music concerts and events with great video and great sound. For the ultimate concert recording setup we combine multi-track audio recording with video to produce 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound DVDs.

Westmark has the equipment and personnel to record multiple events simultaneously. This reserve capacity means that we can almost always accommodate last minute bookings.

Audio editing and mastering

We use the latest computer editing and mastering tools and techniques to achieve professional results from our recordings, or from recordings that you make yourself.

Video editing and DVD authoring

Westmark added non-linear video editing and DVD authoring to its line of services several years ago. These computer-based techniques give your video content a polished, professional look. Normal editing includes removal of “dead” space and adding fade-ins, fade-outs and on-screen titles and to create a finished DVD. When a higher level of technical sophistication is desired, we use professional DVD authoring software to add menus, titles and chapters to make it easy for viewers to navigate your DVDs and select between stereo or surround sound audio tracks (where applicable).

Compact disc and DVD duplication

We use top-quality media and equipment for all our in-house CD-R and DVD-R duplication in quantities as small as 20. We offer the latest in full color, indelible on-disc printing technology so your CDs and DVDs look as good as they sound.

Typesetting, layout, and graphics services

Choose whatever level of involvement you are comfortable with in the production of print materials for your project. We have worked with clients who supply finished print materials and others who have us take care of everything. We can provide you with practical advice, specifications for print materials and recommendations for suppliers for any aspect of the process you want to handle yourself.

Production services for manufactured CD projects

We take care of the coordination, checking and “running around” that’s needed for manufactured (replicated) CD projects so you don’t have to. In addition to recording and mastering, our production services include proofreading and correction of text and artwork masters for printed materials, and procurement of printing, disc manufacturing, and assembly & packaging services, and shipment of the final product to customers.

License procurement

Obtaining proper licensing for your project can be tricky and time consuming. As a contracted recording service, Westmark is not responsible for obtaining licensing and paying royalties on the music you record. However, we offer this service to clients who do not wish to handle it themselves.

Packaging and shipping services

We can distribute your finished CDs and/or DVDs to your group members if it’s impractical for you to do it. This is particularly convenient for projects completed after school gets out for the summer. You provide us with mailing labels or a list of names and addresses and we do the rest.
